Kidneythieves New Album

What! Kidneythieves released a new album and I didn’t know? Just got my digital copy of Trypt0fanatic, going to listen for the first time on my way out to get a few things. Nice!

Worldcup Updates

I wanted to get text updates to my phone for the World Cup. Rather than pay ESPN $4.99, use New York Times. It’s free.

Text WORLDCUP to 698698.

Certs, school and work.

I am working on a few certifications (Linux, OS X, etc) currently. Between that, full time school and full time work… Little time to update the site.

So just thought I would make a post so I have a current month on here. :)

New Job

I have been really busy the last 2 months going through the intense process of getting hired at a high tech company which I do not want to mention. (I do not like to associate my real life with my virtual life) The process was long, grueling, and nerve racking. Yet it payed off with a new position that I am excited about and should be the start of a really great career with the company. To the future!

CompTIA A+

I passed my CompTIA A+ Certification yesterday, which I needed to get into my computer program at school. Now I am certified, nice. :)

And I have no friends…

Ironically, as great as my interest in technology is… I have almost zero friends who share this interest. The few who do, have a low participation in the medium with any follow through.

I should specify that this is in regards to social features on the web. Even though I am highly private (even taking this blog into account) and do not have any social networking accounts such as Facebook, MySpace and so on, I wish I could use some other social networking features. Such as this new commenting on Google Reader. I love Reader, and use it everyday. And as I read about the new commenting, I think “WOW wouldn’t that be cool to use… oh wait. I have no friends who use reader.” Or perhaps I do, but none that would actually comment or share with me.

This always makes me wonder, do I just lack nerdy friends? Or is my circle just on the low end of technology usage? Perhaps my situation is the average… maybe I should ask my friends. Or not.

Climateprediction.net (CPDN) New Site

Looks like CPDN has a new site up, which is good to see. The old one was getting aged. It seems the new site is a Drupal installation. Nice.

BTGuard

I dont use BitTorrent much personally. I find most of the files I want to be full of Virus and Malware of various sorts. Or perhaps I am just to paranoid. With that in mind, everyone who uses BitTorrent should be the same. Using a proxy, such as BTGuard, which I admit to not trying yet, or a whitelist can help (with tracking your IP, not Virus and Malware prevention).

Anyone who uses this service and had good experiences with it?

Comment Spam

Seeing as how I rarely get comments on my low traffic blog, I tend to notice immediately when things are out of the ordinary. Starting yesterday, I have been getting spammed by “random” posters, who only leave a incoherent string of alpha numeric characters. I suspect that this bot will go away soon, at least in this form. So I am not looking that deep into whats happening, yet here is some more reading.

Windows XP Embedded Theme

Via Lifehacker… this is a pretty cool Windows XP theme. Its official so no mods to get it to work.
